whitsunday islands sailing
Summary
Description
There's a reason why sailing is a favourite Australian pastime. Just ask anyone who has had the pleasure of spending a day sailing in the Whitsunday Islands - they'll tell you that all of life's troubles instantly become as insignificant as a ripple in an endless sea. So whether you find pure bliss in dipping your feet into warm azure waters, dropping anchor to dive off the boat and explore a colourful reef or falling asleep to the sound of waves lapping against the side of the hull – the Whitsunday Islands Sailing adventure is a chance to glide through this heavenly archipelago and wile away the hours in one of the worlds' true paradises.
Tour Overview
Arrive on the sun-drenched shores of Hamilton Island, gateway to the Great Barrier Reef and the starting point of your sailing adventure. Head down to the marina and meet your friendly crew, who will be ready to welcome you aboard.
Feel the breeze in your hair as you set sail towards Happy Bay, a location that is more than befitting of its name. Take the first of many opportunities to strap on a snorkel and plunge into the warm waters, or head ashore for a hike in the Whitsunday Islands National Park. End the day with a spot of sunset fishing back on the boat.
Shake off the morning cobwebs with an invigorating morning dip. Head to shore at Molle Island for a relaxing day on the beach or partake in some more water sports. Back on the boat, cruise to the fjord-like setting of Nara Inlet and drift off to sleep in one of the most serene landscapes imaginable.
Rise early to hunt down some intricate Aboriginal rock drawings before heading to Langford Reef, home of some incredible sand spits. Depending on the tide, it is possible to walk along the pencil-thin sand islands that have fields of coral on either side. Spend the night in Blue Pearl Bay, relaxing on deck and keeping an eye out for turtles, manta rays and even the odd whale.
Hop over to Butterfly Bay, a secluded fish sanctuary surrounded by beautiful coral reef. After drying off from some of the best snorkelling in the Whitsundays, make a remote anchorage in Cateran Bay and spend some quality alone time with Mother Nature.
Discover the meaning of paradise at the idyllic Whitehaven Beach. Walk barefoot across the cool silica sand that is so fine, it can be used to polish jewellery. After some more time spent cruising on the yacht, head ashore at Tongue Bay for an energetic hike and end the day taking in breathtaking views of the Hill Inlet.
Round the southeastern tip of Whitsunday Island and get one last taste of this divine landscape by relaxing in one of the southern bays. Take a final breath of sea air before mooring at the Hamilton Island Marina and heading ashore to make the most of all this energetic island hub has to offer.
